Privacy
This site is a static page. It sets no cookies, loads nothing from other domains, runs no analytics, and keeps no record of who visits. There is nothing to consent to, so you are not asked to.
What is never collected
- No cookies of any kind.
- No analytics, no tracking pixels, no fingerprinting.
- No fonts, scripts, styles or images loaded from other domains.
- No accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter.
Server logs
The web server keeps a standard access log: the visiting address, the time, the page requested, the result, and the browser identifier. Nothing you type into the terminal is written there.
The purpose is security. It is what lets an attack, an abusive scanner or a broken link be recognised at all. The legal basis is legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, which Recital 49 names explicitly for network and information security.
Entries are deleted after fifty-two days.
What your browser stores
If you change the colour theme with the theme command, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the page looks the same on your next visit. It stays on your device and is never sent anywhere. Clearing site data in your browser removes it.
The terminal
Clicking the logo opens a terminal that answers a fixed set of questions. Your question is matched against prewritten answers in memory and is never stored, logged or forwarded.
To keep the service from being flooded, the number of requests per address is counted in memory for a short period and then discarded. Nothing is written to disk.
Delivery through Cloudflare
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which is what makes it fast and keeps it reachable. Cloudflare terminates the encrypted connection, so it necessarily handles your IP address and connection metadata on our behalf, as a processor. Their handling of that data is described in the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you may ask what personal data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or erased, object to its processing, and complain to a supervisory authority. In Ireland that is the Data Protection Commission.
In practice this site holds nothing that identifies you, so there is usually nothing to retrieve or erase.
